has slideshow showing term-embryos in back of pick-up truck and many more in a plastic bag. There were a total of 80 full-term sixgill embyos. The Seattle Aquarium has tissue samples from both the female and the pups and we are testing our genetic markers on them for relatedness and to try to determine how many males may have fathered the pups. The State of Washington has more information about the size of the female and her condition when found. We will be discussing this case at the upcoming Cowshark Conservation Workshop at the Seattle Aquarium March 22, 2008 (Shawn Larson pers. comm.).
According to Freya Smith's notes from the workshop, prelimarry results indicated that the litter had as many as eight different fathers.

Regardless, the largest recorded length in our dataset is 5.5 m (Celona, De Maddalena & Romeo, 2005)."
